Our journey
Trekking In Bhutan traces its roots back to Bhutan Travelers, founded by Karma Tashi in 2003 to offer cultural tours and treks across the kingdom. As trekking grew into a larger part of the business, Karma saw the need for a dedicated, specialized adventure trek company, leading him to found Trekking In Bhutan in 2011.
The idea was clear from day one: build a company purely focused on adventure trekking, equipped to handle everything in-house. Owning and operating our own trek equipment, safety gear, and emergency supplies meant every trekker could rely on a fully prepared team rather than piecing things together from outside vendors.
Since then, Trekking In Bhutan has grown into one of the largest trek outfitters in Bhutan. Managed by a like-minded team with a shared passion for the mountains, we remain one of Bhutan’s most specialized adventure trek companies with our own equipment, local trek guides, trek chefs, and horsemen.

Founder's note
“Born in a far-flung mountain village in the remote east, I grew up with trekking as part of everyday life. I am a trained and certified trekking guide and often lead groups myself. I’ve completed every trek route in Bhutan, some more than once, and I keep exploring new trails to bring fresh experiences to our guests. I strongly believe trekking is a joint effort: it takes teamwork and cooperation among our field staff to make it a truly worthwhile experience for our guests. That is the spirit behind everything we do. Quality adventure holidays, grounded in responsible tourism and genuine corporate responsibility.”
